Variation in the working method and interaction with students improves their concentration and learning efficiency. There are several methods to enhance interaction in the classroom, such as interactive teaching, peer teaching, and flipped classroom. In these methods, students are actively involved in classes, gain responsibility, and are learning more actively.
Tablet assisted video lectures
The chalkboard (or a white board) is in many lectures an important tool for presenting and developing a concept. However the chalkboard has some limitations, for example in video-recordings the writing on the board is lost, and the lecturer is not able to see the reactions of the students whilst writing. A digital alternative in the form of a writing tablet with pen offers a solution to all of these drawbacks. The high-resolution writing tablet offers the possibility to use handwriting on the digital screen, for instance in combination with a slideshow containing other formulas, images, graphs or movies that were prepared for the lecture. The notes can optionally be made available online in the form of a high-quality video (including the audio that is being recorded from the tablet), or as a pdf-file.
You can use tablet assisted video lectures for:
- Writing notes on the tablet, which are shown on the large screen in the room;
- Combining notes with other objects (e.g. images, video, quizzes);
- Recording your notes and audio;
- Sharing the notes online in the form of a video or pdf-file.
How can we help
You can use your own tablet for teaching, or borrow one from the audiovisual service. These have pre-installed software for presenting in-class, like Powerpoint and Explain Everything.
Online quiz tools
Using quizzes in your lecture is a fun and effective way to activate students, and to create engagement and excitement.
You can use online quiz tools for:
- Creating a quiz in the classroom;
- Having a discussion in small groups during a lecture;
- Activating and engaging large groups of students.
How can we help
We can help you choose the right tool for voting in-class and show you how to setup and use the software.
